While Scotland’s raptor populations are generally in better health than for a long time, the persistent death and disappearance of young hen harriers, continues to fuel concern and alarm. So where do hen harriers go after leaving the nest and what are the chances of their survival? Technology is providing some of the answers to these questions. Wildland Cairngorms has been fitting satellite tags to a number of young harriers to monitor their dispersal and survival rates. This is their fascinating and informative story.
