Skye Birds

20th December 2018

as we reach the end of the year I am doing final proof reading of the 3rd edition of Skye Birds which will hopefully be available in February 2019.  It follows the same format as previous editions but there are a number of changes the most significant of which are some 20 new species which have been recorded since 2009.  The new edition contains colour plates of a number of these.  The 3rd edition extends to 195 pages and has again been printed by our local printer Strath Print.  The image shows the covers, with the front the Cuckoo and Meadow Pipit image which many of you are familiar with.  The rear cover shows the Lesser Yellowlegs which was a recent visitor to Broadford Bay and the first record for the area.  Once we get it finalised and back from the printer details of availability will be posted on the website.

Highland Bird Report 2017

Published by Highland Branch of the SOC, the 2017 report is now available at a cost of £9.  The report extends to 180 pages and contains a Skye and Lochalsh year summary provided by yours truly.  There are also several images in the publication from Martin Benson and myself.
